Maura began her legal career in Wisconsin, where she handled criminal defense appointments through the state public defender system.

In that role, she represented clients in parole revocation hearings and involuntary commitment proceedings.

She also worked on matters involving guardianship and conservatorship for elderly individuals, juvenile delinquency cases, and family law disputes. This early experience shaped her ability to advocate for vulnerable individuals and handle emotionally complex cases with professionalism and care.

Earlier in her career, she gained hands-on courtroom experience at the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office, where she developed the trial skills that continue to shape her work today.
