Built on Trial Experience and Public Service

Flood Law was founded in 2002 by a group of former prosecutors who believed their courtroom experience could serve a broader purpose. Having spent years working inside the criminal justice system, they understood how complex and intimidating the legal process could be for individuals facing powerful institutions or serious allegations.

Their goal was simple but ambitious: build a litigation firm grounded in trial experience, integrity, and client advocacy. From the beginning, Flood Law focused on representing individuals in serious legal matters where preparation, credibility, and courtroom skill could make a meaningful difference. That foundation continues to define the firm today.

The Leadership of Todd Flood

At the center of the firm’s growth is Todd Flood, a nationally recognized trial attorney and former Wayne County Prosecutor whose career has included some of the most high-profile legal matters in Michigan. Todd’s background as a prosecutor gave him firsthand experience investigating complex cases, presenting evidence before juries, and navigating sensitive legal issues involving government institutions, corporations, and individuals. That experience later became a defining strength of the firm’s litigation practice.

Over the years, Todd Flood has played a role in significant public matters, including serving as Special Prosecutor in the Flint Water Crisis investigation and participating in legal proceedings connected to the Larry Nassar USA Gymnastics abuse scandal, where systemic institutional failures were brought to light. These cases demonstrated the firm’s ability to handle highly complex investigations while maintaining a clear focus on accountability and justice.

A Reputation for Complex and High-Stakes Cases

Flood Law quickly earned recognition within Michigan's legal community for handling matters that require both legal skill and disciplined litigation strategy. The firm has represented individuals and families in cases involving catastrophic personal injury and wrongful death, institutional negligence and civil rights violations, sexual abuse and assault litigation, complex criminal defense matters, and employment disputes and whistleblower protection. Many of these cases involve powerful institutions, corporations, or government entities. Flood Law's attorneys approach these matters with careful investigation, thorough preparation, and a clear understanding that serious disputes may ultimately be decided in court. Today, the firm's attorneys collectively bring more than 150 years of combined trial experience, a level of courtroom depth that shapes how every case is evaluated and prepared.

Over more than two decades, Flood Law has developed a reputation for disciplined litigation and thoughtful client advocacy. The firm’s attorneys understand that legal challenges rarely arise during easy moments in life. Whether representing someone facing criminal charges, seeking justice after catastrophic injury, or pursuing accountability for institutional wrongdoing, Flood Law approaches every matter with preparation, experience, and purpose. The firm’s mission remains consistent with the values that inspired its founding: When it matters, we are there.
